Protecting Nature

In 2017, my wife and I, along with a group of friends, were visiting several of Utah's National Parks when we received the devastating news that the Trump administration had signed an executive order to commercialize millions of acres of the Grand-Escalante Staircase. The proclamation drastically reduced the Grand Staircase–Escalante by almost half, leaving almost a million acres of federal public land open to harmful developments such as mineral exploitation, coal mining, new road construction, the use of mechanized vehicles, and oil and gas drilling. These actions could potentially ruin vital parts of the paleontological record and the land's wild natural character.

Thankfully, organizations such as the National Resource Defense Fund and others work tirelessly to preserve these magical places and ensure that future generations have the opportunity to experience the beauty of these natural spaces. As someone who values the importance of protecting our planet, I've compiled a list of my favorite charities that are working to preserve and protect our planet. These organizations are working on the front lines to protect our environment and I encourage others to support their efforts.

We remain dedicated to working together to find solutions to the biggest threats facing our ocean. Whether that is working towards sustainable fisheries or ocean-based climate solutions, we take an adaptive, inclusive and holistic approach to conservation.

As the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, the National Park Foundation generates private support and builds strategic partnerships to protect and enhance America’s national parks for present and future generations.

Chartered by Congress in 1967, the National Park Foundation is rooted in a legacy that began more than a century ago, when private citizens from all walks of life took action to establish and protect our national parks. Today, the National Park Foundation carries on that tradition as the only national charitable nonprofit whose mission is to directly support the National Park Service.
